OK, we’re a little obsessed with the fall season. With farmers’ markets overflowing and the leaves starting to turn, it’s becoming pretty clear that we could live this life all year round and never get tired of it.

Our morning walks are just amazing. Sweater weather is just the coziest thing ever. And…did we mention the food?!

This year, we thought we’d try something a little different and kick off the season with a full month of celebration for that most amazing and versatile fruit: the squash.

Welcome to #Squashtober!

That’s right: every day in every way we’ll have something to share about this ubiquitous, delicious, pulpy wonder that’s been the delight of tables across North America – and really the world – for centuries. There’s just so much to enjoy about squashes, gourds, and pumpkins. They’re flavouful, colourful, come in every conceivable shape and size.

And they’re really, REALLY nutritious.

The preserve well. They make amazing sauces, soups, and desserts. They’re easy to grow. Heck, you can even eat the flowers before they bear fruit. The leaves make some of the best compost. They’re good for your soil. They’re good for your baby. They’re good for your dog.

And it’s fun to say.

Say it with us:

Love it or hate it, the humble squash is the king of the harvest. Hang out with us as we explore the history, beauty, and phenomenal flavour of this classic staple.
